The Montauk Monster Bringing Summer Thrills Everywhere + Publicity Tour

montauk monsterI am so thrilled this #ThrillerThursday (and well, every day since I heard the news from my friend, author Hunter Shea, that Kensington Pinnacle was going to publish a novel by him) to talk about The Montauk Monster, a mass paperback book released everywhere this month that is flying off the shelves! Publisher’s Weekly called it the summer read of 2014!! You’ll find it not only bookstores, large and small, but in Wal-Mart and other drugstore racks nationwide. It’s already sold enough to be in its second printing!!

If you know Hunter, you know he loves the bizarro, the creepy monsters that might be real, the cryptid, the unusual. So, when he asked me to be the first reader for this new book last summer, I didn’t know what I was getting into, but since I trust him, love his writing, and was honored he chose me to give him insight, I couldn’t say no. In fact, I jumped at the chance!

I almost read it in one sitting because I stayed up on night on the adrenaline train ride it had put me on!! It was a book out of my element and primarily for men I thought and I said so, but I couldn’t be happier that I read it. It was amazing!! Pure entertainment, but with a cool historical New York story and mystery, thrilling text, emotion and dialogue that propelled me and made me CARE, and most of all….I love CAN MAN. I can’t help it. You’ll want to know CAN MAN too. The book, to put it simply, rocks and if you are heading to the beach and don’t like sappy romance, then get this book.

Here is the book at the Barnes and Noble stand and inside, my wonderful acknowledgement. He’s so kind!

MM acknowledge

Working as a publicist for Hunter Shea comes from my belief that he has something to publicize. He’s a wonderful writer with a fun voice that will entertain you. Who needs drugs or hard liquor when they can get a book rush? LOL He’s my friend, but it’s for a reason. He’s an awesome guy.

montauk monster

Publisher’s Weekly named the upcoming thriller, THE MONTAUK MONSTER, one of the best summer books of 2014! Not only that, they gave it an awesome review. Here’s a snippet:

The urban mythologies of the Montauk Monster and the government labs on Plum Island unite to cause staggering levels of mayhem when mutant animals with toxic blood descend on a Long Island town. This wholly enthralling hulk of a summer beach read is redolent of sunscreen and nostalgia, recalling mass market horror tales of yore by John Saul, Dean Koontz, and Peter Benchley. — PW

The Montauk Monster, Synopsis and Advanced Praise:

“Shea combines ancient evil, old school horror, and modern style.” –Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author

It Kills. . .

On a hot summer night in Montauk, the bodies of two local bar patrons are discovered in the dunes, torn to shreds, their identities unrecognizable. . .

It Breeds. . .

In another part of town, a woman’s backyard is invaded by four terrifying creatures that defy any kind of description. What’s clear is that they’re hostile–and they’re ravenous. . .

It Spreads. . .

With every sunset the terror rises again, infecting residents with a virus no one can cure. The CDC can’t help them;FEMA can’t save them. But each savage attack brings Suffolk County Police Officer Gray Dalton one step closer to the shocking source of these unholy creations. Hidden on nearby Plum Island, a U.S. research facility has been running top-secret experiments. What they created was never meant to see the light of day. Now, a vacation paradise is going straight to hell.

“Hunter Shea is the real deal.. . .intense.” –Gord Rollo, author of Valley of the Scarecrow and Crimson
